The daycare needs to look for sustainability through grants, fundraising, and community investors in order to provide quality early learning and care in rural Alberta (Picture Butte). We can’t continue to depend on high child care parent fees or low remuneration for educators especially when they need to obtain their diploma’s in Early Childhood Education from expensive post-secondary educational institutes. 

Community investment is necessary for now, however the board is working towards a municipal plan to provide or subsidize publicly funded early learning and care for those working within the town and surrounding area. Child care is essential for a growing community, quality is essential for a thriving community – we are investing in our future farmers, teachers, bankers, council members, bakers, entrepreneurs…

There is currently zero profit margin, parents have been tapped out and can’t sustain fee increases. We are doing fundraising and applying for grants and are extremely grateful to our funders this past year that kept us afloat.
